ANNOUNCES POWERBOOST MACH 9 ACCELERATOR
-
- AUSTIN,
TEXAS, October 24, 1996--PowerLogix today introduced the Mach 9, a
new model in the acclaimed PowerBoost Series of Accelerators for MacOS
computers.
-
- The
introduction of the PowerBoost Mach 9 has set new records for clock
speeds, achieving speeds of over 260 MHz, at least 35 MHz faster than
the previous record-holder. The PowerBoost features an innovative,
patent pending design with breakthrough performance, resulting in
clock speeds of 250 MHz (or higher) when installed into the Power
Computing PowerTower Pro MacOS system. The combination of the PowerBoost
Mach 9 and the PowerTower Pro creates the world's fastest personal
computer system.
-
- Tests
using MacBench 3.0 indicate processor ratings upwards of 54, depending
upon the actual clock speed. (Our tests show a rating of over 54 at
257 MHz, and almost 57 at 268 MHz.) The combination of the PowerBoost
Mach 9 with the PowerTower Pro 225 create the first MacOS computer
system to break a processor rating of 50.
-
- The
PowerBoost Mach 9 will accelerate all models of the Power Computing
604 and 604e line, including the PowerCenter 120, 132, 150, 166, &
180; the PowerTower 120, 132, 150, 166, 180; PowerTower 180e, PowerTower
Pro 200, and Pro 225. Maximum performance levels are determined by
variables such as bus speed headroom and limitations of the individual
computer. The Mach 9 joins PowerLogix's current family of accelerators
for Apple PowerMacs, with the most models of any accelerator offering.
-
- With
the Mach 9, PowerCenter 120s can now perform equal to or better than
a PowerCenter 166, or a PowerTower 150 can perform equal to or better
than a PowerTower Pro 180. Yet this additional performance is available
for significantly less cost than purchasing a higher level machine.
-
- PowerLogix
also announced the new PowerBoost Mach 9R Accelerator, which is compatible
with all models of Apple Computer's PowerMac 7600, 8500, and 9500
from 120 to 200 MHz; PowerMac 7500 (with Apple 604 or 604e processor
card from 120-200); as well as Power Computing's PowerWave 120, 132,
and 150. Tests show that a Mach 8R, when installed on the Apple 604e/180
Processor Card, is capable of generating over 235 MHz in clock speed,
and this combination also outperforms the previous speed record-holder.
-
- The
PowerBoost family of accelerators includes the most innovative designs
and most features of any competing product, such as LED indicators,
remote control operation, speed adjustments with 0.50 MHz increments,
and microprocessor-control frequency selection. The real beauty of
the PowerBoost is being able to adjust clock speeds to match the full
capabilities of an individual computer.
-
- With
these features the PowerBoost line, when combined with the fastest
computers systems from Apple and Power Computing, offers more speed
options and more performance than any other Mac OS system (or any
other personal computer of any type) and takes full advantage of the
performance of the new PowerPC 604e.
-
- With
the increased speed the PowerBoost offers, processor-intensive tasks
such as the manipulation of large files, complex graphics, or scientific
applications are now completed faster than ever before.
-
- For
additional performance with the fastest PowerPC processors, PowerLogix
manufactures the high-performance RapidCache line of Level 2 cache.
- PowerBoost
Accelerators are available from MacOS VARs, resellers, dealers and
mail order outlets.
-
- Both
the Mach 8R and Mach 9 will be shipping very soon. To be notified
of first availability, please drop us an email to this address: m8rm9@powerlogix.com.
-
- The
PowerBoost Mach 9 and Mach 8R have a retail price of $179. The PowerBoost
line is 100% compatible with all hardware and software, includes a
standard 3 year warranty and a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee.

INTRODUCES HIGH SPEED CACHE FOR 5260'S AND 5400'S
-
- May
1, 1996, Austin, Texas---PowerLogix introduces a new high-speed RapidCache
for the PowerMac 5260 and 5400. PowerLogix is now offering the high-speed
RapidCache 256K-5260 and the 256K-5400 for the latest models of PowerMacs.
MacWeek regarding the importance of Level 2 Cache: "(Not having
a Level 2 cache) is false economy: without a secondary cache...processors
are frequently left spinning their wheels waiting for data. When we
added 256 Kbytes of cache...scores on MacBench 3.0's Processor test
jumped 39 percent, while the Graphics Mix score improved an amazing
60 percent."

ANNOUNCES RAPIDCACHE FOR 7200, 7500 AND 8500
-
- April
15, 1996, Austin, Texas---PowerLogix introduces the high-speed RapidCache
for the 7200, 7500, and 8500.
After being one the very first Level 2 cache manufacturers back in
1994, PowerLogix has followed up with the high-speed RapidCache 256D
and 512D for the second generation PowerMacs. Fully capable of running
at the high bus speeds required for accelerated machines, the RapidCache
is also fully compatible and exhibits none of the problems seen by
other brands of Level 2 cache in the 7500. Also works in new Power
Computing machines.
