PowerLogix Announces the "Power BuyBack" Rebate on PowerForce G3 ZIF and "Future Speed NOW!" Trade-Up offer for Future Processors

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- November 12, 1998 -- PowerLogix, the leader in Power Macintosh processor products, today announced a special limited time trade-in rebate on the Fastest Mac Processor on the planet, the PowerForce G3 ZIF 400.

The rebate totals $250 on 400 MHz ZIF models, and $125 on the 333 MHz ZIF, and is redeemable when the purchaser sends in their Power Buy Back Rebate Form, proof of purchase, serial number of their PowerForce G3 ZIF, and their original Apple PowerMac G3 processor (233, 266, or 300.) Powerforce card must be purchased between Nov 12, 1998 and Dec 18, 1998.

The Power BuyBack Program allows end-users to get significantly more performance than any Apple PowerMac G3 for thousands of dollars less. For example, the least expensive 333 MHz Apple model is $2299 at the Apple Store. If you already own a PowerMac G3, in five minutes you can transform it into a 333 MHz speed demon while saving a whopping $1325! Or, purchase the PowerForce G3 ZIF 400 and get absolutely the highest Mac performance in the world while saving almost $1000.

"If you think your current G3 is fast, you ain't seen nothin' yet," said MacCentral in their review of the PowerForce G3 400 ZIF.

In addition, PowerLogix announced the "Future Speed NOW!" program, which allows owners of the PowerForce G3 ZIF to upgrade to faster processors or next generation processors such as the G4.

"There is now no reason for PowerMac G3 owners not to immediately upgrade to PowerForce G3 ZIF. They can experience the incredible speed of the latest copper technology NOW, while at the same time having a clear road map to future processor technology," said Robin Sharp, Marketing Director at PowerLogix R&D. "With PowerLogix, you will never be left behind in the processor performance race."

Mac professionals can now realize the dramatic speed increase immediately, and when higher performance processors are introduced in the future, can easily send the card back to PowerLogix and trade-up for even higher performance.

The PowerForce G3 ZIF is the only upgrade on the market for PowerMac G3 models, and is fully 100% compatible with all PowerMac G3 desktops and minitowers. The PowerForce G3 ZIF 333, the most economical ZIF upgrade from PowerLogix, offers a full 100 MHz speed increase and double the backside cache of Apple's entry level PowerMac G3. The PowerForce G3 ZIF 400, the World's Fastest Mac Processor, includes 1Mb of backside cache running at 266 MHz, and breaks all previous Mac performance records.

POWERLOGIX ANNOUNCES FIRST CPU UPGRADE CARD FOR APPLE POWERMAC G3 SYSTEMS

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- July 1, 1998 -- PowerLogix, the industry leader in Mac acceleration products and manufacturer of the award-winning PowerForce G3 line of processor upgrades, today announced the first processor upgrade card for the PowerMac G3 line of computers from Apple Computer. The PowerMac G3, the fastest selling model in Apple's history, until now has had no upgrade path. The PowerForce G3 ZIF, utilizing the revolutionary PowerPC "G3" 750 processor, is the first and only upgrade option on the market for PowerMac G3 owners.

The "ZIF" in PowerForce G3 ZIF refers to the "zero insertion force" socket that is present on the PowerMac G3 motherboards. The PowerForce G3 ZIF quickly plugs into the socket and is end-user installable. Installation takes less than five minutes.

The PowerForce G3 ZIF offers up to five factors which increase performance over standard PowerMac G3 systems:

1) Increased clock speed
2) Increased backside cache speed
3) Increased backside cache size
4) Acceleration option
5) Backside cache software control
The PowerForce G3 ZIF, when installed in any model PowerMac G3, offers higher performance levels than even the highest-end Apple PowerMac G3 models. Even the lowest-end PowerMac G3/233 can become the fastest personal computer in existence, simply with the addition of a PowerForce G3 ZIF processor card.

Graphics, rendering, video editing and other processor-intensive tasks benefit greatly from the increased clock speed and backside cache speed. The PowerForce G3 ZIF is the processor of choice for power users.

The PowerForce G3 ZIF will initially be available using the PowerPC 750 rated at 300 MHz, offering typical performance of 333 MHz or more. Backside cache options will include both high- and ultra-high speed 1Mb caches. Models offering rated speeds up to 366 MHz or more will be forthcoming as IBM and Motorola announce faster processors.

PowerForce G3 ZIF ships with PowerLogix' exclusive G3 Cache Control software, giving the user many options to configure backside cache for maximum performance.

The PowerForce G3 ZIF carries a 30 day money back guarantee, a 3 year warranty, installs easily and doesn't require any changes to the system that would void the Apple warranty.

The PowerForce G3 ZIF is compatible with all models of the PowerMac G3: The G3/233, G3/266, and G3/300 in both desktop and minitower configurations. Specific models of the PowerForce G3 ZIF will be announced shortly, and the product will begin shipping this month. Watch for reviews soon on Accelerate Your Mac! and other sites.

POWERFORCE G3 RECEIVES KUDOS IN MACWEEK REVIEW AS THE OEM PROCESSOR IN DAYSTAR MILLENIUM FROM MACWORKS

AUSTIN - April 16, 1998: The DayStar Millennium has received a "4 and 1/2" Diamond rating from MacWeek. The Millennium is a Daystar Genesis case and logic board from DayStar Digital, and a PowerForce G3 upgrade card from PowerLogix R&D Inc. The system is marketed by MacWorks of Lenexa, Kansas.
MacWeek obtained a MacBench processor score of 1,121 with the system- "the fastest such score we've seen."
On every task MacWeek measured, excepting RGB-CMYK conversions and 45-degree rotations, the G3 machine was faster than the original quad processor Daystar system, usually 1.5 to 2 times faster. "In tests with
QuarkXPress, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere, the Millennium G3 outperformed the multiprocessor system across the board. Even in Photoshop, unless your work flow consists largely of rotating RGB images
and converting them to CMYK, the overall speed of the G3 machine would almost certainly allow you to get work done faster."

POWERLOGIX ANNOUNCES NEW POWERFORCE G3 MODELS INCLUDING FIRST G3 UPGRADE UNDER $500 & ECONOMICAL 300 MHZ G3 UPGRADE FOR $600 LESS THAN NEWER TECH

AUSTIN, April 6, 1998 -- PowerLogix, the leader in Macintosh G3 processor upgrades, today announced the shipment of new models of the award-winning PowerForce G3 line.

The new models place PowerForce G3 products as the leading performer in each price category, and continue to include the industry-leading features that has made the PowerForce the premier performer of all G3 upgrade cards. The PowerForce G3 design is now the best-selling G3 processor card on the market, being sold under six different brand names or OEM arrangements.

The new models include the PowerForce G3 220/512K, the new price leader in the world of G3 upgrades, offering a fast 512K of backside cache. The PowerForce G3 300 is available in two versions: one with 150 MHz minimum cache speed, the other with guaranteed 300 MHz of cache speed.

The PowerForce G3 220 offers greater performance than the PowerMac G3 233, while saving over $1000 in direct cost. Customers will save even more by upgrading, rather than buying a new computer, because of the additional cost of investing in SDRAM memory, which isn't required when upgrading with the PowerForce G3.

The PowerForce G3 220 also offers comparable or greater performance than the Apple PowerMac G3 266 for thousands of dollars less, and hundreds less than the comparable upgrade from Newer.

The PowerForce G3 300/150/1Mb offers superior performance to any Apple PowerMac G3, for about $3000 less in direct costs, and even more when considering the additional cost of SDRAM. The PowerForce G3 300/150/1MB is about $600 less than Newer Tech's offering, as well.

The PowerForce G3 300/300/1Mb is the fastest G3 upgrade available, and is considerably faster than any Apple PowerMac G3, for less than half the price of a comparable speed new computer. It is also several hundred dollars less than any other comparable G3 card on the market.

PowerLogix continues to offer the easiest, most compatible upgrades on the market, with all cards being compatible across the board, instead of having multiple models for different platforms. All models, for example, will work in the PowerBase system from Power Computing, whereas Newer Technology only has a single speed model (220 Mhz) for that platform.

All cards are form-factor independent, working in high-profile Apple and UMAX systems as well as low-profile Power Computing systems.

The PowerForce G3 models offer a cost-effective alternative to upgrading to new Apple G3 systems, and offer more performance as well. Introductory pricing on the new models of PowerForce G3 is as follows:

Model # Description Est. Street Pricing Comparable Newer Pricing

PFG220/512 PowerForce G3 220/512K $499 $679

PFG300/300 PowerForce G3 300/300/1Mb $1699 $2499
