it's review of the PowerForce Dual G4 1GHz Series 133 upgrade card today.
The review compared the performance and user experience of upgrading a
PowerMac G4 'Digital Audio' Dual 533 to a new Apple 'Mirrored Drive Door'
Dual 1GHz.
The
overall performance was described as follows: "In actual use [the
upgraded machine] felt just as fast with significantly less noise [than
the equivalent speed Mirrored Drive Door model.]" Mike Breeden provided
many benchmarks in the review, as well as an outline of the installation
process.
The
review shows that for significantly less money than a new PowerMac, users
can get virtually the same performance out of their existing Mac, and
have a higher degree of compatibility as well as significantly less noise.
