New Processor Upgrade
Card Available for Apple'ss Cube G4 Dual G4/1.5GHz provides Serious
Performance for an exceptional price
AUSTIN, Texas (August
18, 2005) - PowerLogix has immediately available a 1.5 Gigahertz
(GHz) Dual Processor PowerForce G4 7447A processor upgrade card
for Apple Computer's Cube.
The card is immediately available from Other World Computing, master distributor
for PowerLogix, for $479.
"While there was a relatively small number of PowerMac G4 Cubes made, the demand
for Cube enhancements remains strong", said Larry O'Connor, president of OWC."We're
glad to meet that demand with these great upgrades, which keep this four-plus-year-old
machine running faster than even the G4 Mac models available today."
The cards utilize the latest FreeScale PowerPC 7447A and include 512K of on-board
L2 cache. As with all PowerForce G4 7447A cards, this new model features an on-board
thermal sensor and real-time thermal monitoring, and supports Dynamic Frequency
Switching (DFS).
All PowerLogix Cube processor upgrades also feature PowerLogix's exclusive Voltage
Regulator Module bypass technology that reduces the power draw of the Cube VRM,
extending its life and reducing heat.
CPU Director, Powerlogix's proprietary software utility, ships with all 7447A
card upgrades. This software constantly monitors the processor for proper and
safe operation, and also allows the user to view operational temperature.
The card is compatible with Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X 10.3.5 and higher (Mac OS
X 10.3.9 or higher is required for thermal monitoring and DFS features).
OWC also has available a 7447A 1.8GHz card for $349 and duals in speeds of 1.2GHz
to 1.7GHz starting at $429.
PowerLogix products are available immediately through Other World Computing via
